February 27 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pmFree
Please join us for Class 6 of Digital Data Flows Masterclass, Future of Privacy Forum’s yearlong educational program designed to help policymakers, regulators, and staff better understand the data-driven technologies at the forefront of data protection law & policy.
Class 6 will feature experts on Facial Recognition. Participants will gain an understanding of:
- Differences between types of video analytics software, including: detection, characterization, persistent tracking, and face recognition (1:1 verification and 1:Many identification), and how data can be used for these purposes in real-world situations.
- How the accuracy of facial recognition software tools can be measured for differences between demographic groups (such as race, age, or sex), with a presentation on how facial recognition software is currently being evaluated by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
This event will not explore policy or law, but aims to give interested lawmakers a 101-level overview of tech basics.
Expert Speakers Include:
- Brenda Leong, Senior Counsel & Director of Artificial Intelligence and Ethics, Future of Privacy Forum
- Patrick Grother, Computer Scientist, U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
This event is also open for remote participation (to join us in the live-stream, please select “Send me remote details” in your registration).
