She guides the organization’s research strategy and collaborates with partners and policymakers to identify best practices and success stories. Rachel’s work also focuses on student data privacy, federal policy, education research, and state and federal legislation.

For over 25 years, Linnette Attai has been building organizational cultures of compliance and guiding clients through the complex obligations governing data privacy, user safety, and marketing. As founder of the global compliance consulting firm PlayWell, LLC, Linnette provides strategic advising, with a focus on privacy and marketing regulation and industry self-regulation, compliance capacity-building, monetization models, policy development, incident response, and government relations. She serves as virtual chief privacy officer and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) data protection officer to select clients across all sectors, is a recognized expert in the youth and education sectors, and speaks nationally on data privacy matters.

Noelle Ellerson Ng

Associate Executive Director, Advocacy and Governance, AASA, The School Superintendents Association

Noelle Ellerson Ng joined AASA in 2007 as a policy analyst. As associate executive director, she directs the advocacy and governance efforts of AASA. In this role she spearheads the organization’s work with Congress and the U.S. Department of Education. Her team is responsible for representing the voice and priorities of the nation’s public school superintendents in all aspects of federal education policy and uses member networks, outreach, policy analysis, and surveys and research to advance their work. She is responsible for the organization’s governance work, including direct support and management for the executive committee and governing board, as well as AASA’s 49 chartered state affiliates. Noelle speaks regularly on federal education policy to school leaders across the country.

Ariel Fox Johnson

Ariel Fox Johnson is senior counsel for global policy at Common Sense, where she advocates for smart practices, policies, and rules to help all kids thrive in today’s wired world. Her work focuses on enhancing children and students’ privacy rights and overall digital wellbeing. She frequently advises policymakers, industry, and tech experts on ways to improve the online landscape for kids, and has helped develop laws on student and consumer privacy and technology (including enhanced minor protections in CCPA). She has testified before Congress and state legislators and briefed regulators globally on designing media and technology products with children in mind, and her work has been quoted in numerous media outlets including print, radio, and television. Ariel is a graduate of Harvard College and Law School. Prior to joining Common Sense, Ariel worked on privacy, media, intellectual property, and technology matters at corporate law firms and provided pro bono assistance to nonprofits and asylum seekers.

Olga Garcia-Kaplan

Olga Garcia-Kaplan is a New Jersey schools parent and student data privacy advocate with a primary focus on the responsible and ethical use of data. She has over 15 years of experience in the Financial Services Industry managing regulatory requirements and submissions to the Securities and Exchange Commission working on diverse projects ranging from IPO launches, M&A projects, Mutual Funds and Proxy related transactions.

Patricia Julianelle

She has over 20 years of experience defending children’s and youth’s rights, including leading state and federal policy advocacy. She was a junior high English and taught students learning English as a second language.

Amelia Vance

Director of Youth and Education Privacy, Future of Privacy Forum

Amelia Vance is Director of Youth and Education Privacy at the Future of Privacy Forum. Amelia advises policymakers, academics, companies, districts, and states on child and student privacy law and best practices; oversees the education privacy resource center website, Student Privacy Compass, and the review of applicants to the Student Privacy Pledge; and convenes stakeholders to ensure the responsible use of student data and education technology in schools. She is a regular speaker at education and privacy conferences in the U.S. and abroad, has testified before the House Education and Workforce Committee, and been invited to present for the U.S. Department of Education and the Federal Trade Commission. She is part of the New York State Education Department Data Privacy Advisory Council, the Maryland Student Data Privacy Council, and the OECD expert group currently reviewing the draft Recommendation on Children in the Digital Environment.
