Commissioner Didier Reynders’ Opening Remarks at the Brussels Privacy Symposium 2023
On Tuesday, November 14, Commissioner Didier Reynders provided opening remarks for the seventh annual Brussels Privacy Symposium, jointly presented by the Brussels Privacy Hub of Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF).
The Brussels Privacy Symposium is a global convening of practical, applicable, substantive privacy research and scholarship, bringing together policymakers, academic researchers, civil society and industry representatives.
This year’s program focused on the topic of “Understanding the EU Data Strategy Architecture: Common Threads – Points of Junction – Incongruities,” and during the opening remarks, Commissioner Reynders provided his perspective on the new landmark proposals put forth by the European Commission for shaping Europe’s digital future, and the GDPR’s position as the cornerstone of the EU’s new regulatory framework.
