Two (too?) Hard Questions for Data Protection and Generative AI

FPF Side Event at Global Privacy Assembly October 30, 2024 @ 2:30pm - 4:00pm GMT

Overview

Join the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) at the Global Privacy Assembly (GPA) for an official side event, Two (too?) Hard Questions for Data Protection and Generative AI, on Wednesday, 30 October 2024 from 2:304:00pm GMT at the La Mare Wine Estate where we will dive into the tricky world of Generative AI and Data Protection.

Two of the most difficult questions that data protection raises for Generative AI are:

• Can scraping data for training be done lawfully, and, if so, under what legal basis?

• Do LLMs contain personal data and, if so, how do individual rights apply?

The side event will explore both, relying on legal and technical expertise and facilitating active engagement with the attendees towards finding answers.

A shuttle will be provided to and from La Mare Wine Estates for GPA attendees, leaving from the Royal Jersey Showground. We hope you can join us at La Mare Wine Estate and be part of this thought-provoking discussion!

This event will be held in live, in-person-only format.
