In recognition of FPF’s dedication to providing a respectful and professional conference, forum, email listserves, and community experience for everyone regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or political affiliation, FPF does not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Participants or others involved in activities who violate this anti-harassment policy may be sanctioned or expelled from the activity at the discretion of the community organizers. Harassment and other bad behavior reduces the value of the programs for everyone.
Unacceptable Behavior
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
- Verbal or written comments that reinforce social structures of domination, such as comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, or religion
- Sexual images in public spaces
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
- Harassing photography or recording
- Sustained disruption of talks or other events
- Inappropriate physical contact
- Unwelcome sexual attention
- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior
Reporting
If someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome because of harassing, inappropriate behavior, or you witness someone being harassed, please report it as soon as possible to a conference staff member or to the following email address [email protected]. Harassment and other code of conduct violations reduce the value of our event for everyone. Conference staff have been advised to handle any such reports with sensitivity and confidentiality. Our team will review any such reports and will determine if a disciplinary response is warranted. If necessary, conference staff will also ensure that participants feel safe; we might contact venue security or local law enforcement, or provide an escort. We take all reports seriously. It is within FPF’s discretion as to whether or not to take further action on reported incidents, and FPF may direct participants to other entities for resolution.
Consequences
Conference organizers may take action to redress actions designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the event or making the environment hostile for conference participants. If a participant or other individual involved in conference activities, such as a speaker, are asked to stop any harassing behavior, they are expected to comply immediately. Conference organizers also retain the right to take any additional action to ensure the conference is a welcoming environment for all participants, such as issuing a warning or expelling a participant from the conference without refund. We expect participants and others involved in conference activities to follow these rules at all event venues and event-related social activities. FPF ultimately expects participants to be kind, thoughtful, professional, and civil towards each other and staff.
These policies are applicable to other FPF programs, webinars, listserves, and community services.
