Please join the Future of Privacy Forum for the kickoff of its Immersive Tech Panel Series, examining the new privacy risks and policy questions that arise when immersive technologies are integrated into domains like health, advertising, transportation, AI, and education. The first virtual panel will focus on Health & Wellness, and will be held on MondayJuly 17 from 11:00 AM ET to 12:00 PM ET. 

In this panel, you will learn about the challenges and opportunities posed by emerging immersive technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) in the context of health and wellness. We will also explore the privacy laws, policies, and ethical considerations for the use of non-HIPAA data. Jameson Spivack

Senior Policy Analyst, Immersive Technologies, FPF

Jameson Spivack is Senior Policy Analyst, Immersive Technologies at the Future of Privacy Forum, where he leads FPF’s emerging work on VR, AR, and other related technologies. Previously, Jameson was an Associate with the Center on Privacy & Technology at Georgetown Law, where he worked on research and policy advocacy related to algorithmic technologies like face recognition in the criminal legal system. Prior to this he worked in communications for an international development nonprofit. Jameson received his M.A. in the Communication, Culture & Technology program at Georgetown University, and his B.A. in Government & Politics from University of Maryland.

Dr. Susan Persky

Director Immersive Simulation Program, National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), National Institutes of Health (NIH)

Dr. Susan Persky is an associate investigator and head of the Health Communication and Behavior Unit. She also directs the Immersive Simulation Program (ISP) within the Social and Behavioral Research Branch (SBRB) at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), National Institutes of Health (NIH). She earned a B.A. in psychology from Northwestern University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of California, Santa Barb

Jasmine Roper

Privacy Policy Manager, Health Technology, Meta

Jasmine Roper is a Privacy Policy Manager for Health at Meta where she focuses primarily on the intersection of health data privacy with AR/VR products. Prior to joining Meta’s Policy team, Jasmine served as a Privacy Counsel at a mid-size tech company and has worked in the regulatory space as a HIPAA investigator in OCR’s Region 4 Atlanta office. Jasmine is certified as a U.S Privacy Professional by the IAPP, and a member of the State Bar of Georgia’s Privacy and Technology section.

Caroline Sinders

Founder, Convocation Research + Design

Caroline Sinders is an award winning critical designer, researcher, and artist. She’s the founder of human rights and design lab, Convocation Research + Design. For the past few years, she has been examining the intersections of artificial intelligence, intersectional justice, systems design, harm, and politics in digital conversational spaces and technology platforms. She’s worked with the Tate Exchange at the Tate Modern, the United Nations,the European Commission, Ars Electronica, the Harvard Kennedy School and others. Caroline is currently based between London, UK and New Orleans, USA.

Jordan Wrigley

Researcher for Health and Wellness, FPF

Jordan Wrigley is Researcher for Health and Wellness at the Future of Privacy Forum and leads education and best practice development around health data privacy. Previously, she was a member of the Center for Research Data and Digital Scholarship at the University of Colorado Boulder and has consulted across the industry health sector on research methods and data practices. Previously, working at Duke Medical Center, Jordan has co-authored scholarly articles on health and health-related topics including systematic and scoping reviews. She combines experience from two advanced degrees in environmental policy and health information science with undergraduate work in international health development.
