Alexa Mooney is a Policy Counsel with the Youth & Education Privacy team. Alexa focuses on supporting both technological improvements to education and the protection of student privacy. Prior to working at FPF, Alexa worked as a data privacy and cybersecurity attorney at Honigman LLP, where she advised clients including educational institutions and children’s groups on issues in data privacy law. She also held a position as a legal intern at Cummins Diesel Engines, where she researched issues at the intersection of advancing technology and the law. She has been involved in the education community through volunteering, coaching, and teaching through a pro-bono organization called Outreach for Legal Literacy.
Alexa is a proud graduate of Indiana University’s Maurer School of law, where she earned her J.D. and a certificate in education law, and Ohio State University, where she studied history and political science.
