Yas Sharifi is a Policy Fellow with the Youth and Education Privacy Team at FPF. At FPF, she advances research, analysis, and thought leadership on issues at the cross-section of mental health, school safety, and student privacy in K-12 schools. Yas is thrilled to contribute a strong equity lens to this work, having previously worked in educational and civil rights advocacy representing marginalized children in the Deep South. Prior to that, she developed and directed youth programming for refugee teens while earning her degree at Yale University. Yas is a proud immigrant and looks forward to incorporating intersectional perspectives from her lived experiences into her work. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.
